Here are a few snapshots of what we have been up to during the last few weeks. We finished up painting before heading out for some of our end of summer trips.

Here's a before of our front room. Our whole house was entirely white when we bought it. So we are adding some color here and there.

Here is after the paint. Still a few things to hang up.

The kitchen before ...

and after. Not too much wall space but lots of trim.

You ask why is Dr. D climbing trees. He is hanging up new birdfeeders, higher. The bears did a number on a couple of our old ones and they were beyond repair.

The garden is still producing lots of tasty veggies.

We have gotten into canning. This time around we made some pluot jam, pickles, and canned peaches.

We headed out to the bay area to celebrate great grandma's 70th birthday.

Miss S really enjoyed the chicken at the party.

We flew kites with grandma and grandpa H.

It was a really windy day. Perfect for getting the kites in the air.

We went to the San Francisco Zoo. Miss S enjoyed her first trip to the zoo. Here's a family shot.

Miss S on a turtle, a very realistic looking one.

She was able to pet an armadillo and..

a snake.

We went in the petting zoo and saw this goat had found a good resting spot.

Then it was off to Orange County. On the way we stopped at Mt. Abel.

Miss S was happy to get out of the car when we arrived at Grandma I's house. She loved these cool bug glasses from grandma.

We went to the OC Fair and saw quite a few animals.

There were many things to see.

Including Tadpole the clown. Miss S was fascinated by his nose.

We enjoyed a family beach party. Here is Miss S with some of her extended family.

Miss S caught a few waves...

and so did Dr. D.

Miss S and Erin enjoyed the walk on the jetty. Although there were some interesting sights along the way. (Check out the background)

It was nice to get back home and unwind after all the traveling around.

Busy, busy, busy. I love the colors in the kitchen & family room...sorry I wasn't able to make it up this summer to help you paint in the heat. Everyone looks like they had a lot of fun out the trip to SoCal.
