When It Rains, It Snows

Well it was raining in our kitchen this past weekend. Turns out our upstairs shower drain had a small leak, actually a large one from a drain that had been recalled.

The leak has been repaired, but there are now quite a few holes in our kitchen ceiling, a hanging light fixture, many missing tiles from our shower floor, and alot of drywall that needs replacing. The fun never ends. We are in the midst of working out coverage between home warranty and home insurance. In the meantime, we have to wait for some clearance in the snow for the inspector to come out.
Here is the first day of snow. We got a few brief patches of blue sky and then it was back to snow. We have continued getting quite a few inches every day and are looking forward to the weekend and just being able to stay home and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

It is awesome being able to go out sledding for a half an hour and come back in to a warm house and warm drinks. Here are Dr. D and Miss S taking a run down the driveway.

Dr. D's black diamond run. There is a nice swath of cleared vegetation underneath the powerlines. There is also a pretty good incline. Great for a sled path.

We did get a chance to stop in at the library and read a few books. Miss S loves the little tables and chairs. The blue ones behind her are actually her size.

Showers and Storms

Lots of showers and storms these past few weeks. Mama traveled down to help in hosting cousin Erin's bridal shower.
The centerpieces turned out very nice. Very quick to put together.

Gotta love those shower games.

Also had a chance to celebrate great grandma's birthday.

Miss S exploring, while we load some wood at grandma and grandpa's property.

She also got to visit with Debbie's ponies. They were very interested in her.

The storms sure did a number on the orchards around here. There were rows and rows of trees knocked down.

We got some heavy winds , rain, and then snow. There was no power for 3+ days. Fortunately we were out of town most of that time. Here is a shot along the drive on our road home before too much snow accumulated.

Ahh, the fun of chains. They have to come on and off since it doesn't snow where we work but snows where we live. Fortunately, we only get snow for a brief period of time and then it melts off.
Miss S loves fruit. Check out the hair in this pic.

Miss S running around with the bottle brush (wand) before bed.

I love this pic. The sugar pine cones are half her size.

A wonderful smile while enjoying the day outside.

Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year!

We hope you had a wonderful holiday season and hope your new year is off to a good start. We have lots of pics this time around. It has been hard to post between the stomach flu, traveling, Christmas and the flu, but there are finally some up.

Miss S has been drawn to the computer. It must be from watching us sitting in front of it. She likes to click the mouse.

Dr. D did a bit of burning on the lower part of the property.

Kylie loves to lay right here. There is a heater vent behind the rug. She is a heat hog and it is all the better when she can get an ear massage from Miss S too.

Miss S and her cousins tearing into some gifts.

We had to get fueled up for our trip to Southern CA with some super burritos and horchata.

Can you guess what we got for Christmas?

Miss S wanted to join in on the fun too.

Miss S enjoyed her first beater of whipped cream.

Mama's cousin Zak shares his favorite food with Miss S.

Miss S checking out the cool kangaroo pull toy made for her by daddy.

Dr. D was given a pretty good hand "10kA55".

We made a trip to the magic kingdom, along with droves of other people.

While waiting in line Miss S gets lots of love.

Miss S on her first ride - Winnie the Pooh's adventure.

A short nap while in line again.

We took a spin on the tea cups.

We had lots of fun with Mama's cousin Bill and his family.

Okay so we ended up back at the tea cups. Too much fun.

A random surprise - mom's friend Nenette from Philadelphia also happened to be at Disneyland on the same day.

We enjoyed dinner with Ann too. A jazz Santa at a Mexican restaurant. Do you see the connection? We didn't.

Once back at home, we assembled Miss S' kitchen from her Uncle (Unkey). Here she is checking out the boiling pot.
