We decided to get out of the heat for a day. You can see how happy we are.
With the weather so hot, it's hard to believe there is snow anywhere in California. This lake in Lassen National Park is still frozen in most parts. Lassen park is about an hour up the road from us. There are many trails, campgrounds and scenic views. The majority of the year it is only accessible with snowshoes or skis.
We took a hike around this lake with beautiful views of Mt. Lassen in the background. We even saw some wildlife within a few feet of us - deer, osprey, a bat, trout, ducklings, and many other birds.

11 Gallons of Paint and a Bottle
We can't believe how quickly Miss S is learning new things. She held a bottle on her own on the way down to town today.
It seemed as though the fun of painting would never end. Alas, four days and 11 gallons later we are done. We (including Gma. H who generously donated her vacation time to the cause) just finished the main living room/dining room, stairway and upstairs walkway. By the way if you ever need paint - Dunn Edwards delivers for free. Even from Roseville all the way to our house in Forest Ranch (over a 2.5 hour drive)

Oh the drama and more
One of our favorite views from the south side of the property looking into Butte Creek Canyon. You will have to click on the photos to enlarge them. We have to put small images up since we are on SLOW dial up out here.
Dr. D's new mode of transportation.
Already putting on a show for her favorite audience - mom and dad
